The Institute of Emergency and Trauma care at Touch Hospitals is a 24-hour, fully-equipped medical centre, which cares for all kinds of accident victims and emergency cases. The Institute of Emergency and Trauma care is a state-of-the-art medical care centre, with the latest medical equipment. Medical supplies are available round-the-clock from the in-house pharmacy, as is blood from the in-house Blood Bank. The doctors and other medical staff are highly experienced in emergency medical care. They are accomplished in providing urgent medical or surgical care, basic and advanced life support and comforting patients and their care givers.

We follow a triage system of classification and adopt it in emergencies. Patients are categorized into R1, R2 and R3 based on decreasing order of severity of illness and emergency care needed. The department has distinct patient care units to take care of patients who needs responsive care immediately. Each unit is devoted to resuscitation, trauma, decontamination, general medicine care, obstetric care, paediatric care where patients get admitted and receive treatment. All beds in the emergency unit are well-equipped with suction apparatus, oxygen delivery system and electronic monitoring systems.

The services of our laboratory and diagnostic units are available to the emergency department. Radiology, cardiology and neurology labs services are available to the ER department round the clock.

When to Contact Emergency Room?

  • Immediately contact the emergency department in case of following emergency:
  • Difficulty in or stopped breathing
  • Unconscious
  • Severe chest pain or pressure
  • Sudden headache that is unusual or severe
  • Not able to speak, see, walk or move suddenly
  • Inhaled smoke or poisonous fumes
  • Excessive bleeding
  • Possible fracture especially if the bone is pushing through the skin
  • Deep wound and severe burns
  • Coughing or throwing up blood
  • Allergic reaction that causes swelling, breathing difficulty and hives
  • High fever that doesn’t go away or is associated with headache and stiff neck
  • Vomiting and loose stools that doesn’t stop
  • Overdose of drug and alcohol
  • Seizures
  • Feeling suicidal or attempted suicide
